Looking at the Pussycat Dolls and that kind of body perfection is disheartening to those of us who aren’t that kind of perfect.
I suppose things like that are what help start some young girls on the road to eating disorders… that image of what’s “perfect” and what’s not.
I agree with you that this can be a unrealistic body type. Not everyone is going to look like this no matter how much they exercise.
Do you think Bally will benefit from this promotion?
I imagine that GUYS will flock to the local Bally to see if they can find members like the girls here, but will women respond favorably?
I have a feeling that women will flock there thinking that somehow magically they can look like that, too… which brings us back to possible eating disorders for them to try to *get* to that point.
I personally like gyms/clubs that I can relate to. I would feel intimidated to go if all the girls looked perfect. And yes, agreed on the point about body image. As eating disorders and affect any age.
I think that looking to those kinds of bodies when you’re in a gym could help you on getting fit. I think that I would be more inspired if someone from our gym has their face and body.
You and me both. I have no desire to go to a gym where it looks like everyone is nearer to a perfect 10 or people that think that they are.
debrajean, I think it’s meant to be that way.
I’m sure they have a whole set of resources that is not available to us normal gals – like physical trainers, motivators and such.
And that’s the reason why brands use perfect looking women like this because for those who are interested in losing weight, they can be an actual motivator.
Katharina,
I think it’s just a two way street, an obese young girl is also setting herself up for health problems in the future also.
As parents, we just need to be diligent to be aware of what’s going on in our kids lives. It’s not only drugs and alcohol we need to be aware of, but also excessive dieting.
There will always be perfect women out there, they just need to learn that they don’t have to be in order to be in the “in” crowd.
Tater03, I have to disagree with you on that. Before I gained the weight four years ago, I had a similar body. But I really worked my butt off to get there by making the right choices in my nutrition and fitting in hour and a half workouts.
I am so glad that I am just about 10lbs to be where these women are. They’re not my role models, but personally know other women who are as sexy as they are and I know they bust their ass getting where they are.
SageMother, these pictures are courtesy of Bally’s marketing group.
The Pussycat Dolls are such hot commodity right now that everyone and anyone is signing them for promotions.
Katharina, I’m not sure that everyone will get eating disorders just because they go on a program to be as fit as these girls.
My sister has lost about 40lbs by going to Dr. Bernstein’s clinic. Her work has offered to pay for her $3800.00 a month bill as part of her health incentive program.
They made her go on a 600 calorie diet. I can’t even imagine going that low, because if you factor in your exercise calories burned after that, she’d be lucky if she has 100 calories left to tide her out for the day. But, like my sister said, doctors recommend that if you really want to lose weight, this needs to be done.
She was facing a lot of health complications before she went on this doctor supervised diet.
EviesEarth, you should try Curves. It is a great gym and only for women. The staff really goes out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.
