Calypso, you are right about that.

Eating disorders usually come with a lot of reasons for us to worry especially if it is a loved one.

Diagnosis or not, knowing what that person is doing to lose weight can give you an insight of what's happening with their eating habits.

SageMother, no wonder eating disorders are increasing. The media itself doesn't portray a lot of positive weight role models.

I think it's great that you have such a caring doctor, Diva. Without the proper nutrients, health can start going downhill and suddenly all the work we've done to lose weight and get fit doesn't mean much if the health is gone. :-( It's a balancing act.

Katharina, that's why I really recommend seeing a doctor before anyone starts on a diet or fitness regime.

Now, my doctor wants to see my daily diet calories eaten vs burned because he is concerned that I am not getting the nutrients my body needs. I was bordering having a hyper thyroid problem.

I don't know so much about the misdiagnosis... but I *do* know that a lot of girls are *choosing* to engage in eating disorder behavior thinking they can get away with it because "it's a real disease"...

Well that's the problem... it IS a real disease but with so many people pretending to have it, it makes me wonder if it's taking away from the medical care people who have the actual disease are getting.
