If I am not going through the joy of counting carbs *whoopie-do-do*, I am trying to determine whether the food I am salivating over belongs in my red light or green light category. I find that dieting in general is just too much of a pain in the ass because there are too many rules to remember. It takes me longer to decide on what lunch is going to be, than doing my hair or deciding what to wear for a hot date. No wonder dieters succumb to the temptation of being anorexic – it’s keeping it simple with just one rule to remember – Just Don’t Eat. Of course, I love food and my body to ever swing to that end of the diet spectrum, but still I can’t help but think that there has to be a better way.
Once upon a time *when the diet dinosaurs ruled the land* and long before Jenny Craig came out with the Man Diet, losing weight was just all about counting your calories. It sounds simple and basically only has one diet rule for me – My daily maximum calorie intake is 1900 calories (Mayo Clinic, Calorie Calcualtor). Along with my HealthFitCounter which monitors my calorie intake on the go, I am making my diet work for me. I no longer have to chose between a baked potato or a salad for lunch, and I am saying goodbye *forever* to drinking that disgusting liquid meal supplement stuff.
So, what can I eat for about 1900 calories a day? A quick trip over to Mike’s Calorie & Fat Gram Chart assures me that my tastebuds are going to be very happy at the prospect of not eating bland and boring food again.

Drink juice if you feel hungry. Well, that’s what others say to limit your food intake. You’ll not feel hungry in a little while after you drink and it contains vitamins and antioxidants which are beneficial for your health.
I have never been able to lose weight by counting calories. I commend everyone that can. I have been able to lose weight by reducing portion sizes, walking and drinking more water.
Jess, I think it’s also important to remember that just because you are on a diet that you can also forget about getting the nutrients your body needs.
And definitely drinking juice is a great way to go about.
