I sincerely think that if parents put a little more concious effort towards developing the self confidence of the child..this problem can be tackled early on…

I suppose if a little more self confidence is installed in every child right from birth and parent carefully tell them that there visual image is not as important as there mental stregnth there might be a slight lesser chance of a child getting into the habit of dieting etc…

Katharina, that’s true.

Accepting help is the first step of the problem. As so it happens, eating disorders usually start at the onset of puberty and parents can really do something about it whether the teen recognizes help or not.

I just hope that parents become more diligent in watching for the signs.

Great article… I enjoyed reading that. And with that title, I couldn’t resist checking it out!

I think it’s important to remember that the “cure” for eating disorders needs to be sought from the person who needs the help… it just can’t be forced.
